Alocasia odora "Indian"
We were able to acquire this plant last year after seeing a picture of it and tracking it down. As the name implies, it is evidently a native of India.
A good look at the picture and the resemblance of this plant to the Alocasia cucullata is striking. However, unlike A. cucullata, this plant grows much larger, is a lighter shade of green overall, and produces many more blooms than A. cucullata does.
The plant has bloomed for us and it sets berries readily by open pollination.
Ripe berries can be seen in the picture above; these were open-pollinated, not hybridized.
